Sunshrike was a vigilante operating in Astro City in the 1980's. She was the original partner and mentor of Nightingale.
She had the ability to generate beams of heat and light from her fingertips and her enemies included Stove-Pipe Johnny and the Popinjay.
In 1982, she and Nightingale rescued Dr. Simon Chavez, the inventor of Omni-Flux energy, and his daughter Rosie from the Popinjay, who had intended to force Chavez to give him the secrets of Omni-Flux so that he could sell those secrets to rogue nations.
Sometime after that, Sunshrike retired, and Nightingale moved on to her current partner, Sunbird.
